Arrange a time-out area for your staff

You can’t expect your people to remain fit and focussed on the exhibition visitors for hours on end. That is simply not realistic. And nobody wants to face a sitting, eating, smoking, phoning, grumpy stand staff member.

It is especially important to arrange for a time-out or relaxation area/room for your staff members at a multi-day exhibition where the days are long and they need to be on their toes for endless hours. This is a place where team members can be themselves, have a bite to eat, get changed, chat, and vent any frustrations that may have arisen on the exhibition floor.

Check with the exhibition organiser, venue and/or surrounding restaurants whether they have any available space for accommodating your team members during their breaks. You could also use this area for the kick-off session and the end-of-day evaluation sessions.

Having a designated team room has lots of additional benefits: Your stand won’t be used as a break-room, visitors won’t be forced to listen to staff squabbles, and a clear distinction is made between the backstage area and the onstage area where the staff are expected to display impeccable professional behaviour.
